U-M faculty available to discuss national poverty, uninsured statistics

ANN ARBOR, Mich.—The U.S. Census Bureau will release new national poverty and health insurance figures on Aug. 26, and University of Michigan experts are available to discuss the data.

Sheldon Danziger, the Henry J. Meyer Distinguished University Professor of Public Policy and National Poverty Center director, is a scholar on poverty, income inequality, social welfare programs and policy. George A. Kaplan, professor of epidemiology in the School of Public Health, has written about the cumulative cost of socioeconomic disadvantage on health and functional outcomes in the elderly and the role of equity in the distribution of income on overall health of populations. Helen Levy, researcher at the Institute for U-M Social Research and School of Public Health, is an expert on health economics, public finance and labor economics.
