ANN ARBOR—Area families will have the rare opportunity to experience authentic Native American cultural activities, including champion dance and drum competitions and exhibits by dozens of award-winning Native American artists, at the Ann Arbor Dance for Mother Earth Pow Wow March 27 and 28 at Crisler Arena. “Every year, students and staff here at the University of Michigan work very hard to carry on the rich tradition of this event in honor of those who have gone before us and with thoughts of those to follow us,” said Steven Abbott, coordinator of this year’s pow wow and Native American coordinator of the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs. “It is a time of community, of family, of celebration and of education.” The 32nd annual Ann Arbor Dance for Mother Earth Pow Wow will offer traditional foods and crafts for purchase by the public. Thousands of competitors, artists, vendors and spectators are expected to travel to Ann Arbor for the festivities. The schedule: ?
