ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan will present a three-day conference on lean manufacturing techniques and implementation May 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Mich.

The eighth annual Lean Manufacturing Conference is sponsored the U-M College of Engineering‘s Japan Technology Management Program. Drawing on a wide range of experts from industry and academia, the conference will explore how lean manufacturing can be used to increase efficiency and profitability in a more complex and customer-centered marketplace. On Monday, May 6, an optional workshop will provide an introduction and overview of lean manufacturing principles. More advanced and specific topics will be addressed in 11 different workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7-8.

Questions to be addressed include:

What are some successful examples of lean manufacturing principles?
