ANN ARBOR—Four Michigan high school students have been chosen to receive the Bentley Scholarship, the University of Michigan’s most prestigious award for undergraduate students. The winners, all of whom will enroll as freshmen at the U-M this fall, are Michael R. Kellermann of Ann Arbor, Brian J. Taulbee of Owosso, Kristen L. Andree of Rochester and Noel G. Erinjeri of Swartz Creek.

The Alvin M. and Arvella D. Bentley Scholarship recognizes recipients as among the most outstanding Michigan residents to apply to the U-M. The award covers four years of undergraduate tuition, fees, and room and board, and provides a book allowance.

Kellermann, who has a 4.0 grade point average and is Ann Arbor Huron High School’s valedictorian, serves as president of the student council and as editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. He also sings in his school’s chamber choir and has won a nat ional writing award and a state math prize.

Taulbee, who ranks first in his class at Owosso High School with a 4.0 grade point average, plays varsity tennis, sings in his school’s show choir and is a member of the quiz bowl team. He also is an accomplished guitarist, volunteers at a Salvation Army soup kitchen and is active in his church and in the Boy Scouts.

Andree, Rochester Adams High School’s valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average, is captain of the varsity tennis team and a member of several community service groups. She also plays the clarinet, has been a member of the ski club and was a summe r foreign exchange student in Germany.

Erinjeri, who has a 4.0 grade point average at Flint Powers Catholic High School, is a former National Geography Bee national champion and was captain of a victorious Team U.S.A. in a past International Geography Olympiad. He also is captain of his s chool’s quiz bowl team and has played soccer and tennis.

Established in 1983 by the Bentley Foundation of Owosso, the Bentley Scholarship program continues the Bentley family’s tradition of supporting educational excellence by providing scholarship assistance to Michigan students.
