ANN ARBOR—Lee C. Bollinger will be inaugurated as the University of Michigan’s 12th president on Friday, Sept. 19, in a morning ceremony in Hill Auditorium.

The U-M Regents selected Bollinger as president Nov. 5, 1996, and he assumed the responsibilities of the office Feb. 1.

A day-long schedule of public festivities is planned to begin at 8 a.m. with a 5-K Fun Run with the president, a long-time runner. Following the 10:30 a.m. inauguration ceremony in Hill Auditorium, there will be an outdoor reception (noon-3 p.m.) and a Celebration of the Arts, featuring a symposium and various performances by University ensembles (3-5 p.m.). The arts celebration will help kick off the University’s “Year of the Humanities and Arts.”

Additional details on inauguration activities will be announced later.
