Kathryn Heinze

Kathryn Heinze

Kathryn Heinze is an assistant professor of sport management. Her research examines sport organization and industry change related to social issues such as community development, environmental sustainability, and player health and wellness.

“Professional sport, and the Super Bowl in particular, can be valuable sources of philanthropy, given mass media distribution and viewership, and the passion and interest of fans,” she said. “The Super Bowl Host Committee’s charitable programs—that raise funds to support local nonprofits in the community hosting the game—expand the reach of the event beyond sporting competition, and may serve to improve perceptions of the NFL.”
