EVENT: Richard Harris, science reporter for National Public Radio, delivers keynote for Environmental Health Science’s 125th anniversary celebration.

Harris’ talk: “Science, Pseudoscience and Public Perception: How Journalism Struggles with Environmental Health Communication,” will be followed by eight TEDTalk-style presentations, which will cover environmental health issues ranging from causes of cancer to the best recipes for reducing obesity.

Harris reports on science issues for National Public Radio’s news magazine’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition. He’s reported from Timbuktu, the South Pole, the Galapagos Islands, Beijing during the SARS epidemic, the center of Greenland, the Amazon rain forest and the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. He covered the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in April 2010 and Japan’s nuclear crisis in 2011.
