Detroit-area experts discuss gentrification

EVENT: "Examining the effects of gentrification"

Gentrification is an important focus of social science inquiry that affects many communities across the country—including that of the Detroit area. The University of Michigan Institute for Social Research is inviting the community to a panel discussion of gentrification for its January 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium. Panelists will discuss how gentrification maintains and deepens inequities—both racial and socioeconomic—particularly with regard to unequal access to high quality education. Kesha Moore, associate professor of sociology at Drew University and U-M alumna will moderate the panel.
