EVENT: Steve Curwood, executive producer of NPR’s nationally syndicated Living on Earth program, will give a talk titled: “Getting the Message Out: The Role of Academics in Public Discourse on the Environment.”

Curwood, an environmental journalist, will discuss the role academics can and should play to engage in the public discourse around environmental issues, and not just in moments of crisis. He will discuss modes for effective communication with the media and the public, especially in cases where the environmental issues that need to be addressed intersect with important and complex social issues.

The talk is a keynote address at the 2017 Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors. Tickets are free, but required in advance. Members of the public can obtain tickets by contacting the Michigan Ticket Office. Media can do the same, or contact Nicole Casal Moore at ncmoore@umich.edu to reserve a ticket.
