EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

DATE: 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017

EVENT: "The Future of Obamacare: Repeal, Repair or Replace?"

In honor of the University of Michigan School of Public Health's 75th anniversary, the Department of Health Management and Policy will host a panel of experts who will discuss the many facets of the Affordable Care Act and how different options for its future could impact the U.S. health care landscape.

"The first Republican attempt to repeal and replace may have failed, but that doesn't mean Obamacare is safe," said Richard Hirth, professor and chair of health management and policy and one of the speakers at the event. "The failure of the American Health Care Act provides an opportunity to step back and ask what each side is trying to accomplish in health policy."

In addition to Hirth, speakers include:

  • Peter Jacobson, professor of health management and policy
  • Paula Lantz, professor of public policy
  • Marianne Udow-Phillips, executive director of the Center for Healthcare Research & Transformation
  • Ken Warner, the Avedis Donabedian Distinguished University Professor of Public Health

This event is free and open to the U-M community and the public. The panel precedes a teach-out on the same topic, which will be part of U-M's new Teach-Out Series, an open, online opportunity for global learners that begins May 12.
