Conference highlights Hallyu – the global popularity of Korean movies, TV series and pop music

EVENTS: It's called the Korean Wave, or Hallyu – the growing global popularity of movies, TV series, online games and pop music from South Korea. The way social media have helped spread the influence of this booming new cultural industry will be discussed at the Hallyu 2.0: The Korean Wave in the Age of Social Media conference at the University of Michigan. Leading scholars from the U.S. and abroad will consider the phenomnon at the event, which will be free and open to the public. The conference is the first in a series called Perspectives on Contemporary Korea.
